Amidst all the different cafes to choose from in Paris, here are four you don’t want to miss! Cafe culture is one of my favorite things about Paris. I love the outdoor seating and the fact that the chairs face out toward the surrounding sidewalks and street. It’s the perfect setup for sipping a cup of coffee, enjoying a pastry, and watching the world pass by.
If you’re looking for other places to go and things to do in Paris, check out my weekend in Paris post!
1. Café de Flore
172 Boulevard Saint-Germain, 75006 Paris, France
Café de Flore is one of the oldest cafes in Paris. My friend and I had to wait a few minutes before an empty table opened up outside, but it was worth it. We spent quite a while there just watching the passing traffic and also snapping a few photos.
I just ordered a coffee because the menu was a bit pricey, so I definitely recommend this cafe more for the atmosphere. If you’re looking for that perfect picture sitting at a French cafe, then this is the place for you.
2. Angelina
(Multiple locations across Paris)
I first heard about this cafe when supermodel Karlie Kloss raved about their hot chocolate, so I was curious to try it. The best way I can describe it is it’s like drinking a melted chocolate bar. It was heavenly. It definitely is very rich though, so you may want to share with someone else. The marble tabletops are super aesthetic and the pastries are to-die-for. I tried the millefeuille vanille, and it was the perfect combination of creamy filling and flaky pastry.
3. La Maison Rose
2 Rue de l’Abreuvoir, 75018 Paris, France
Okay this officially wins the award for the cutest cafe I’ve ever seen. It’s walking distance away from the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, which I feature in my Paris travel diary. This cafe is a great place to stop before or after heading there.
A piece of advice: order something before you start taking photos in front. My friend and I were taking photos outside before going inside to order and one of the workers came out and told us we had to order something if we wanted to take pictures.
4. Ladurée
(Multiple locations across Paris)
Ladurée is where you should go if you’re looking for macarons. The flavors I tried were strawberry candy, salted caramel, pistachio, and chocolate. They were all amazing but if I had to pick a favorite, I’d probably say the salted caramel. The nice thing about Ladurée is some locations are bakery-style where you just go up and order macarons, whereas other locations you can actually sit down and be served. This is a nice option depending on what your itinerary looks like.
Which cafe would you visit if you could? I hope you have the chance to experience them for yourself one day! Check out my weekend trip to Paris post for more ideas of places to go and things to do!
