I have been looking forward to decorating my college dorm ever since I can remember. I never really had the opportunity to redecorate my room back at home, which made me all the more anxious to start the planning process for my dorm. As you can probably imagine, I had an entire Pinterest board dedicated to dorm inspiration. Not to mention, all throughout the summer before college I gradually collected the pieces that came together to create what you see below.
For a more in-depth breakdown of all the items featured in these pictures, check out my previous post. There I explain all the items with prices, descriptions, and links to where you can find them (all totaling under $200, I might add). That post was published before I actually moved in, so I’ve since picked up a couple additional items, which will only be found in this post.
Desk Area
String Photo Lights | Desk Lamp
My favorite part of my whole dorm room is definitely my desk. It’s just so bright, clean, and happy: my ideal combination. Let me tell you, hanging up those lights was quite the feat, but it was totally worth it. It always makes me smile looking up from doing my homework and seeing all the polaroid pictures I’ve taken throughout the years.
Makeup Organizer | Nail Polish/Perfume Organizer
I absolutely love having my makeup stored on the shelf above my desk because it is right next to the window where the lighting is superb. I didn’t bring all that much, just one eyeshadow palette and a few basic essentials. I’ve never been hugely into makeup, so this setup has worked really well for me.
Bed
White Comforter | Light Grey Sheets | Memory Foam Mattress Topper | Grey Fluffy Pillow | Flower Pillow | Marble Pillow
I am absolutely obsessed with my bed. It comes at a close second behind my desk as far as favorite parts of my dorm. Not only do I love the clean white bedding and the collection of pillows, but it is also incredibly comfortable thanks to the memory foam mattress topper. I’m not even joking when I say it is more comfortable than my bed at home. Seriously, investing in a mattress topper for college is a NECESSITY.
Kitchen Area
White Rolling Cart | Mint Green Keurig
Isn’t that mint green Keurig the cutest thing you have ever seen?? I was so happy when my roommate brought that into the room. As far as the rolling cart, you better believe the whole second tier is solely coffee. Even though there is coffee in the dining hall, sometimes it is nice to just wake up in the morning and not have to leave the room in order to enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
Living Room
White Rug | Grey Backpack
This white fluffy rug is actually a fairly new addition. My roommates and I never designated a person to bring one, so for a whole month there was just a bare floor in the middle of the room. Eventually I couldn’t stand the emptiness anymore and took to Amazon to find this rug. It was pretty inexpensive, and even though it isn’t the highest quality, it’s actually very soft and serves its purpose perfectly as far as I’m concerned.
Entryway
My roommates and I got pretty lucky because we got a corner room at the end of the hall. It is one of the few rooms that has a separate hall/entryway. We decided to take advantage of that extra wall space with this white and grey geometric tapestry we found in the clearance section of Target. We also hung up some string to attach pictures to, which you can see on the right.
Closet
White Hanging Clothes Organizer
Being so far away from home, I was pretty nervous I wasn’t going to have enough closet space. I mean come on, I stuffed two suitcases full of clothes, yet somehow I managed to find a place for everything between this wardrobe and my four-door dresser. And even though you can’t see from this picture, I promise there are even more shoes shoved behind the ones that are visible.
Well, that pretty much wraps it up! I had so much fun decorating my dorm, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything came together. Let me know in the comments what your favorite part or piece of my dorm is. I would love to hear what you think!
